"I wanted to update you on the tutor sessions. While I am not sure William is over the horror of having tutors, I think he has gotten used to the idea. The things that I am finding most beneficial: having scheduled pre-week and mid week dedicated time to plan for upcoming tasks. Doing this 2x definitely keeps him focused. The mid week slot helps him finish strong rather than allowing him to focus too early on the weekend Will doesn't have a 'perfect' record yet with assignment turn in, but it has improved significantly. Rebecca is definitely pushing him to explore the literary ideas more thoroughly. He actually wrote more than requested on the essay on his last quiz and was rewarded with a 10/10 on that portion. He was pleased. :) He NEVER would have done that a month ago. Will has gotten As on the last 4 algebra assignments. Props to Garrett for helping him slow down and use his time to be more complete with his work. Both Rebecca and Garrett have encouraged Will to talk to this teachers. That's a big thing and it is something he has done a few times. He's not in avoidance mode anymore with his algebra teacher...big accomplishment. Using the rubrics is huge. Can't tell you how many times I've asked him to do that. Its just not the same coming from mom! Will is definitely benefiting from have specific blocks of time of focused work. He likes Rebecca and Garrett, and I think he realizes that being locked in to the work is helpful. He is also much more receptive to advice from them than he is from me, and our home is much happier with their influence.”
